Fly Fishing in the South West and Westcountry

The moment the fly fisher is on the M5 they are approaching the gateway to some wonderful fishing for wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon.

Around the Bristol area there are the first signs of some trout streams namely: River Chew,  Box Brook and Wellow Brook.

Heading further into Somerset we have the Barle, Tone and Axe which are great streams and then further down into Devon the choices of rivers increase. Along with their tributaries the main rivers are: The Dart, East Lyn, Exe, Lyn, Otter, Plym Tavy, Taw, Teign, Torridge, Yealm and Yeo.

Leaving the M5 and heading down into Cornwall the angler has The Camel, Fal, Fowey, Inny, Lynher and of course the Tamar.

As you can see there is more than a life time of fly fishing in the South West some if not all is available through fishing clubs and some are fishable on a day ticket basis making it affordable for the visiting angler too.

The Westcountry Passport is a great way of fishing many of the rivers of Devon and Cornwall.
