The Fox and Hounds can truely claim a fly fishing heritage dating back to the 1950’s. With over 6 miles of the River Taw to fish for salmon, sea trout and brown trout there are plenty of fly fishing opportunities for fly anglers of all ages and abilities.
The hotel has 6 beats each of which is rotated daily ensuring that anglers get to see a new stretch of water. Each beat is a mile in length and they have a mixture of riffles along with slower deeper pools offering a variety of interesting and challenging casts.
Waders are required for fishing at The Fox and Hounds and we find chest waders offer a better allround option rather than thigh waders.
Our fly fishing school is located at the hotel and we are there most days to offer help and advice even if you are not joining us for fly fishing tuition or guiding.
