It is often thought that the best time to catch sea trout is at night time. This is certainly the case but there are also opportunities to catch them during the day too. We have surprised our guests by chasing sea trout during the day even with the brightest of sunshine. Part of the secret is to know where they like to sit during the day. This makes targetting them a whole lot easier and at least you know you are in with a shout.

Usually a small bead head nymph will work well but we have also caught fish on dry flies too. In some intsnaces they have been some sizeable fish too which reminds us to tell you to step up your leader if you know you are after sea trout!

Timing is a factor too and we have observed the fish and noted when they seem to be more interested in taking a fly but we have also cast to a sea trout that has been rising too.
