2021 Season Start - The Devon School of Fly Fishing

Welcome to the first blog of 2021. Well we’re well and truly off the mark this season with trout coming of the top, next week should see some excellent dry fly action with the temperatures set to hit late teens by Tuesday the 30th of March.

There’s been a few salmon caught on the lower sections of nearly all the main rivers in Devon which is very encouraging. The thorn trees and hedges are coming in to leaf nicely with the horse chestnuts sticky buds bursting open, the daffs are putting on a splendid display this spring making the river banks look beautiful.

While typing this blog a friend phoned to say he was hauling out trout and March Brown’s, LDO’S and Grannom were bringing the trout up, ggrrrr. Its been a tough winter with covid restrictions and lockdowns affecting the whole of the U.K., tomorrow sees the restrictions eased which will allow us to start offering guiding and tuition, I’m sure like me your itching to see family, friends and fishing buddies.

I wish you all good health and tight lines for 2021.
