Well, the clock has been ticking down and we are in the final countdown before the start of the season. Salmon fishing starts March 1st and trout March 15th. Excited? Just a little!

We’re pretty much through the mayfly hatch. It probably wasn’t one of the most memorable but plenty of fish have been caught and anglers are happy. We continue to wait for some rain so that we can go and chase salmon once more!

We’re getting super excited as the trout season is only days away from starting. We’ll be having our usual get together at the Fox and Hounds for coffee and breakfast and then we’ll hit the river in search of River Taw brown trout. Exciting times!

We’ve had some rain at long last and it has given the river a fresher feel. There have been some good hatches of caddis and sea trout are on the water too. Keep an eye out for salmon too!
