The fly fishing season is now underway and with some testing early season conditions easing off we will soon be hitting a favourite time of the season for me!
The trout season is just a few days away now. To say we are a little excited is a slight understatement!

From fishing small streams like to the Bray and little Dart to the wonderful river Taw and the 8 miles of river we are able to guide you on. We are also able to take you to fish the lakes of Devon including Colliford, Fernworthy and Kennick to catch brown trout and rainbows.
We are also just a short drive to try fly fishing for bass. It really is fantastic fun and a day you won’t forget!

As we enter the last month of the season we are looking forward to some great back end fly fishing in Devon. The rain has meant that the salmon are starting to enter the hotel beats which is great for the angler looking to try their luck.

Despite cooler conditions than we hoped for at the start of the season fish have been caught, some on dries. Opening day saw Mo Graham return a 14 inch brown caught on a pheasant tailed nymph.
Salmon have been caught further downstream and despite the most recent spate none have been seen on the hotel waters as yet but they shouldn’t be far away.
The April edition of Trout and Salmon has an article by Devon fly fishing legend Mike Weaver visited during the mayfly last year. The highlight for me was the two of us both playing 12inch plus fish at the same time just a few feet apart!
A regular to our fishing school, Ian, had the first fish from one of our new beats and we hope there will be a lot more to come!
